Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has given his best guidance to Youth chief Muhamad Akmal Saleh during today’s meeting, leaving the decision on Akmal’s party role entirely to him.
Akmal, Merlimau state assemblyman, will reveal his choice tomorrow.
Details of the Meeting
“The meeting with Akmal just ended at Putra World Trade Centre here,” Zahid told reporters after officiating the Umno Patriotic School’s second convocation at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, PWTC.
“I offered my best advice, and Akmal will announce the outcome tomorrow.”
Earlier, Zahid confirmed the sit-down but shared no details.
Speculation linked it to Akmal’s hints at quitting party and Melaka posts.
Akmal’s Stance
Yesterday, Akmal vowed to accept decisions by Zahid and Melaka chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh on his roles.
They chose him for Merlimau and as executive councillor for rural development, agriculture, and food security.
Akmal shared his views with Ab Rauf.
He floated stepping aside after Zahid dismissed his call to exit the government and revive PAS ties under Muafakat Nasional.
