PAS Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari slammed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement of a so-called “special gesture” for Malaysians on Tuesday (July 23), calling it nothing more than a “cap ayam movie” that failed to meet public expectations.
He said the only notable measure was a RM100 cash aid for all adult citizens (worth RM2 billion), which could have been announced during the 2026 Budget. “It was rushed out to cool public anger ahead of the ‘Turun Anwar’ rally on July 26,” he added.
He mocked the pre-announcement hype as “a blockbuster teaser that turned out to be a ‘cap ayam movie’ with fake software.”
Ahmad Fadhli said the 5-sen reduction in RON95 petrol price was meaningless, while raising the paddy floor price did not benefit farmers due to rising diesel, fertilizer and machinery costs, “The real winners are not the farmers but the big bosses.”
He also questioned: “RM2 billion cash aid is nothing compared to RM7.5 billion saved from diesel subsidy rationalisation.”
“There’s no long-term impact from these announcements. They won’t stop the people from taking to the streets. See you in Kuala Lumpur on July 26!” he said.
