UMNO: PN State Governments in Perlis, Kedah and Terengganu Are Unstable, BN-PH Poised for Comeback
UMNO considers the current state governments led by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Perlis, Kedah and Terengganu to be unstable, offering a potential opening for Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) to regain control in the next state election.
UMNO Supreme Council member Ahmad Maslan stated that nearly half of voters in these three states still support UMNO, while the rest are undecided or swing voters, whose choices could tip the electoral balance.
“We may have lost previously, but there is no reason we cannot win again. These three states are fragile in terms of support—half the electorate is with us, while the rest remain undecided. These swing voters will play a crucial role,” he said after officiating the UMNO Langkawi Women’s Division Delegates Meeting today.
Also present were UMNO Kedah chairman Mahdzir Khalid and Langkawi Women’s Division chief Hisham Suhaily Othman.
Ahmad further noted that if the people in these states become dissatisfied with PN’s performance, they are likely to return their support to UMNO.
Commenting on the three key motions debated during the meeting—enhancing women’s role in politics, reclaiming Langkawi’s parliamentary and two state seats for UMNO, and defending Najib Razak—Ahmad stressed that UMNO upholds democratic values.
“During every delegates’ meeting—be it women’s, youth, young women, or division level—we receive numerous motions, all of which are discussed constructively before final decisions are made.”
“This process reflects how UMNO values grassroots input and reinforces our identity as a party that upholds democratic principles,” he emphasized.
