Barisan Nasional (BN) will contest all 36 state seats in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election, according to Negeri Sembilan Umno chairman Jalaluddin Alias.
He said a list of prospective candidates will be submitted to BN chairman and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for consideration before the final selection is made.
According to Jalaluddin, the proposed lineup includes a combination of experienced and new faces, as well as young candidates and women from various educational backgrounds.
Candidate list nearing completion
Jalaluddin said preparations for the state election are progressing smoothly, with the coalition working to finalise its candidate lineup.
He noted that the selection process aims to present a balanced mix of candidates representing different backgrounds and levels of experience.
The final candidate list will be reviewed by the party leadership before any official announcement is made.
Seat allocation discussions ongoing
He added that seat allocations within BN will also involve component parties MCA and MIC.
“However, the final allocation will be decided in a meeting soon,” he said when met at a wedding reception at Masjid Datuk Undang Luak Jelebu today.
Jalaluddin said all matters relating to the state election, including constituencies to be contested by Umno such as Jeram Padang, will be decided during the upcoming discussions.
Election preparations gather pace
The Negeri Sembilan state assembly was dissolved yesterday to pave the way for the 16th state election.
The dissolution was announced by Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun during a special press conference late on Thursday night.
In the previous state election, Pakatan Harapan won 17 seats, followed by Barisan Nasional with 14 seats and Perikatan Nasional with five seats.
