China has allocated an additional 80 million yuan from its central natural disaster relief fund to support emergency response and recovery efforts in the flood-hit Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The latest allocation was jointly announced by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management as severe flooding continues to affect the region.
The additional funding comes after 110 million yuan was disbursed on July 6 to support relief operations.
Disaster response upgraded
China has upgraded its national emergency disaster relief response for Guangxi from Level IV to Level III following continuous heavy rainfall that has worsened flooding and related disasters.
The higher response level is intended to strengthen emergency measures and accelerate recovery efforts in the affected areas.
Funds to support recovery efforts
The newly approved funds will be used to relocate and resettle affected residents, provide temporary living assistance during the recovery period, and repair or rebuild homes damaged or destroyed by the floods.
Authorities said the funding aims to help communities recover as quickly as possible following the disaster.
Flood death toll rises
According to local authorities, recent floods triggered by successive rounds of torrential rain have claimed 39 lives in Guangxi.
Nine people have also been reported missing as search and recovery efforts continue.
