More than 1.69 million voters, representing 63.13% of the electorate, had cast their ballots by 4pm in the 16th Johor state election, according to the Election Commission.
The Commission said polling was proceeding at 1,076 polling centres involving 4,889 polling streams across the state.
Voting will continue until 6pm, after which ballot counting will begin. Official results are expected to be announced later tonight.
Semarang records highest turnout
As of 3pm, the Semarang state constituency recorded the highest voter turnout at 66.1%.
Sri Medan followed with a turnout of 64.4%, while Penawar recorded 64.2%.
The Election Commission released the turnout figures through its official Facebook page.
Penggaram among lowest-turnout constituencies
Penggaram registered the lowest voter turnout at 48.8%.
Bentayan followed with 49%, while Perling recorded a turnout of 50.3%.
The Commission will continue monitoring voter participation until polling closes.
Turnout higher than previous state election
For comparison, voter turnout at the same time during the 2022 Johor state election stood at 45.39%, with 1,168,809 of more than 2.57 million registered voters having cast their ballots.
With polling set to close at 6pm, attention will shift to vote counting before the official results are announced later in the evening.
