Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor has suggested that the state assembly may be dissolved in the near future, though he refrained from providing a specific timeline.
Speaking to Sinar Harian after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sabah Malaysian Construction Academy (ABM) campus in Kampung Beringgis, Papar, on Saturday, Hajiji playfully remarked that media personnel could still enjoy a brief respite before any formal announcement.
“Not dissolving just yet… you can still take a one- or two-week holiday,” he quipped to reporters, according to the news outlet.
When pressed on whether the dissolution would occur after Malaysia Day on September 16, Hajiji remained noncommittal, urging reporters to await his official statement. “Just wait… I’ll call you three,” he added lightheartedly, referring to the journalists present.
Earlier, Sabah State Dssembly Speaker Kadzim M Yahya noted that the state assembly is scheduled to dissolve automatically on November 11, as mandated by the state constitution, unless an earlier dissolution is announced.
