Statements claiming that Hamzah Zainudin will step down as opposition leader have been dismissed as false by his office.
An officer from Hamzah’s office rejected reports circulating online that he would resign effective Jan 1, 2026, describing them as fake news.
Earlier in the evening, a fraudulent media statement allegedly bearing the letterhead of the Office of the Opposition Leader and purportedly signed by Hamzah was circulated online.
Another statement using the Bersatu letterhead was also confirmed by the officer to be fake.
The office stressed that Hamzah has not issued any resignation statement and urged the public not to spread unverified information.
