The Election Commission (EC) expects to announce the full results of the Johor state election by 10pm this Saturday following the implementation of an upgraded results management system.
EC chairman Ramlan Harun said the commission would no longer provide seat-by-seat updates throughout the night, but would instead announce the complete election outcome once all votes have been verified.
“With our upgraded system, we hope to have the full results ready at around 10pm,” he said after observing the early voting process at the Mahkota Army Camp.
Johoreans urged to fulfil democratic responsibility
Ramlan encouraged all eligible voters in Johor to cast their ballots on July 11, describing the election as an opportunity for the people to contribute to the nation through the democratic process.
He said every vote plays an important role in determining the state’s future.
EC investigating election offence reports
Ramlan also revealed that the EC is investigating 588 reports of alleged election offences.
In addition, 44 police reports and three reports lodged with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission are also being looked into.
A total of 2.73 million voters are eligible to vote in the Johor state election, including 24,751 police personnel and members of the armed forces who are casting their ballots during the early voting process.
