Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin has dismissed rumours of a possible Senate appointment amid talk of a Cabinet reshuffle.
Known as KJ, he told reporters he avoids commenting on unverified speculation.
“Rumours? I don’t comment on rumours, right?” he said after the “I Remember You” exhibition opening by Harta Gallery today.
On whispers of rejoining Umno, the ex-Umno Youth chief said he would address it at the appropriate moment.
“As I have said before, I will talk about it when the right time comes,” he added.
Speculation about his Umno return resurfaced on Oct 30, with claims he might rejoin before the Sabah state election.
Reports suggested Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi approved during a wedding in Perlis last Sunday.
Expelled from Umno in January 2023, Khairy broke his silence days later, asking for a couple of weeks before any announcement.
He stressed he was sacked, not a voluntary departure.
In a social media post, he shared advice from Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Bung Moktar Radin to stay committed if returning.
Khairy included a screenshot of his expulsion news and quipped: “There’s plenty of receipts on the internet (of my expulsion). Don’t be so illiterate.”
Zahid recently stated no formal party discussions have occurred on Khairy’s return.
Separately, Khairy is rumoured for a Senate role as a reshuffle looms.
Two posts may soon vacate: Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz and Higher Education Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir.
Tengku Zafrul’s Senate term ends next month; Zambry hinted yesterday his role has “two or three weeks left.”
Parliament records show both terms from Dec 3, 2022, to Dec 2, 2025.
Two portfolios opened earlier after resignations by Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil confirmed awareness of Tengku Zafrul’s term end but offered no reshuffle details.
