A discipline teacher was injured after allegedly being punched by a group of students at a secondary school in Kuala Kangsar yesterday.
According to Bernama, the incident is believed to have been triggered by the students’ dissatisfaction after the teacher cut the hair of one of them.
Authorities awaiting official report
Perak education, higher education, youth and sports committee chairman Khairuddin Abu Hanipah said he is awaiting a detailed report from the State Education Department before commenting further on the matter.
He said additional checks are being carried out to verify the authenticity of the incident before any official statement is issued.
Investigation continues
Khairuddin said that if the allegations are confirmed, such behaviour would be inappropriate as teachers serve as educators who guide students in schools.
He made the remarks after officiating a programme at the Sultan Yusuff Izzudin Shah Mosque in Seri Iskandar today.
The incident remains under review while authorities continue to gather information and verify the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
