Malaysia’s aerospace industry revenue is projected to grow by 20% to 25% this year from RM25.1 billion in 2024, according to Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
He said Malaysia has already secured RM1.5 billion in approved investments and RM8.17 billion in exports, signaling growing global confidence in Malaysia’s aerospace capabilities and workforce.
“Our 30,000-strong aerospace workforce has demonstrated excellence across aircraft structures, engine components, avionics, MRO, and systems integration,” he said during the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA) President’s Dinner 2025.
Tengku Zafrul highlighted the collaborative success of the triple-helix model involving government, academia, and industry.
He also cited positive signals during Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to France, including Malaysia Airlines doubling its Airbus A330neo orders to 40, and AirAsia signing a deal for 50 Airbus A321XLR with options for 20 more.
“This reflects confidence not only in Airbus but also in Malaysia’s position as a hub for MRO, parts supply, and aerospace talent.”
Zafrul noted that global aerospace is entering a period of transformation, driven by green aviation, digital integration, and resilient supply chains. Malaysia must innovate and co-develop future technologies to stay ahead.
Alignment between the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030 (MAIB 2030) and the National Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) is key to maintaining competitiveness.
