Several parents of students expelled from Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) over bullying incidents have indicated they plan to take legal action against Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and its chairman, Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
Asyraf disclosed the matter in a Facebook post today.
“I have been informed that some parents, whose children were expelled from MRSM due to bullying cases, are planning to sue me and MARA,” he wrote. “To that I say: ‘Bring it on.’ My priority is to protect the safety of the majority of students, not a handful who behave like thugs. #YouTouchYouGo.”
The post has attracted widespread attention online, with many netizens voicing support for MARA and Asyraf’s firm stance against bullying in its institutions.
User Fathiah Ab Rauf commented: “If that’s the kind of upbringing at home, it’s no surprise the child ended up the way they did and was expelled. Good parenting doesn’t mean justifying, agreeing with, or defending everything a child does. Wrong is still wrong — correct them with discipline. Take a lesson from the story of Anakku Sazali, where everything fell apart because of excessive pampering.”
Another user, Amirul Iman Anuar, wrote: “File a countersuit against the parents of the student. Claim back all the expenses that MARA has spent on their child, such as hostel meals and other costs.”
On June 27, Asyraf said six MRSM students in Terengganu had been expelled after they were found to have bullied a Form Two student, leaving him injured. It was also reported that another six MRSM students in Melaka were expelled with immediate effect after being found involved in a bullying incident.
