Muda and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) have announced a political partnership known as the “progressive bloc” ahead of the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.
In a joint statement issued today, both parties said they had agreed to cooperate throughout the election campaign and present voters with a common platform built around progressive policies.
Shared platform centred on key policy issues
The alliance said it would advocate policies aimed at tackling the cost of living, creating quality employment opportunities, promoting environmental sustainability, expanding affordable housing and pursuing institutional reform.
According to the statement, the proposed progressive agenda is forward-looking and focused on the welfare of all Malaysians regardless of race, while remaining consistent with the framework of the Federal Constitution.
Campaign coordination and seat planning
The agreement also provides for the coordination of campaign issues, joint mobilisation of election machinery and strategic planning on seat allocations.
The parties said these measures are intended to avoid overlapping contests among political groups that support a progressive agenda.
Open to broader cooperation
Muda and PSM said they remain open to discussions with other political parties and organisations that share similar aspirations and policy positions.
The two parties previously entered into an electoral pact during the six state elections held in 2023.
Johor is scheduled to hold its state election on July 11, followed by Negeri Sembilan on Aug 1.
