Former prime minister Najib Razak has been informed of the details of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) governing his house arrest, said Legal Affairs Division director-general Zamri Misman.
‘Those details have been informed to Datuk Seri Najib,’ he said during a media briefing on the enforcement and implementation of the Parliamentary Service Act 2025.
When asked about the progress of the SOPs, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said declined to elaborate.
‘That can be asked of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh,’ she said.
SOPs to cover Najib’s movements
The Prisons Department was previously expected to release the SOPs for Najib’s house arrest.
Attorney-General Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar said the SOPs would cover visitation, control and monitoring of Najib’s movements.
However, Najib’s daughter, Nooryana Najwa, previously said the family and his lawyers had yet to receive information from the Prisons Department on the SOPs.
She also said they had not been given details on modifications to the house to facilitate the former prime minister’s house arrest.
Najib granted conditional house arrest
On Sept 18, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, granted Najib conditional house arrest, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.
The arrangement is subject to Najib paying a RM50 million fine imposed following his conviction in the SRC International case.
