PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has called on Amanah and Umno to state their positions on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s decision to invite US President Donald Trump to Malaysia.
He said Malaysians are waiting for both parties to explain themselves, noting that Amanah had long portrayed itself as a principled party, not a mere “yes man.”
“History records that the Amanah president was among the loudest voices against Israel’s aggression and America’s stance in the Middle East. Where is Amanah’s firm position on Palestine now, when Anwar invites Trump, whose hands are still stained with the blood of Palestinians?” he said.
The Kubang Kerian MP also stressed that Umno’s silence could only be interpreted as consent.
“As a coalition partner in Anwar’s government, Umno’s silence signals agreement to Trump’s visit. At a time when the world condemns Israel’s atrocities backed by the US, such silence is deeply disappointing to Muslims in Malaysia.”
Citing hadith, Tuan Ibrahim reminded leaders of their responsibility to speak out against injustice or risk condemnation by God and mankind.
He also questioned whether Malaysia should remain silent for economic reasons.
“As our brothers and sisters in Gaza are still being slaughtered, inviting Trump to the ASEAN Summit is not a priority. Our stance reflects the nation’s dignity and sends a powerful signal to the world,” he said.
