Seven Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates will contest the Nov 14 Melaka state election under the coalition’s logo, says PN chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
He said Bersatu should clarify its position on using the PN logo, adding that questions on the matter should be directed to the party.
“The Election Commission has been informed that authorisation to use the logo must be signed by the PN chairman.
“How does Bersatu intend to contest under the PN logo? Questions about its use should be directed to the party,” he said after opening a biodiversity seminar at Wisma Darul Iman in Terengganu today.
Earlier, Samsuri, who is the Terengganu Menteri Besar, accompanied the Regent of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, to the seminar.
PN logo to remain in use
Samsuri said the seven candidates from PN component parties would use the coalition’s logo in the Melaka polls and that it would continue to be used in future elections.
He also said the principles agreed upon by Barisan Nasional (BN) and PN on seat allocations should continue to guide negotiations for the Melaka election and the next general election.
PN candidates to be announced tomorrow
On candidate selection, Samsuri said PN component parties intending to contest had submitted their nominees.
He said the coalition’s official candidate line-up was expected to be announced tomorrow.
