Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim highlighted his team’s growing resilience after they fought back to earn a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The Red Devils looked set for a fourth straight Premier League win following Casemiro’s first-half header at the City Ground.
But two Forest goals in as many minutes flipped the game upside down.
Amad Diallo’s spectacular volley then secured a deserved point, marking continued progress under Amorim exactly one year since his appointment.
“We lost control for five minutes,” Amorim said. “The players really tried, both during the week and today.”
“In the past, two quick goals like that would finish us. We wouldn’t recover. Today feels different.”
“You sense we might not win, but we’re not going to lose. That’s the mentality a big team needs. Last season, we’d have lost by more.”
A victory would have lifted United to second place, a stark contrast to their 15th-place finish last term.
“The confidence is completely different now,” Amorim added. “Three good games behind us, better understanding among the players.”
“We control moments, we score. First half ends well, second half we suffer, but we recover. That’s a positive feeling.”
Chelsea Edge Past Spurs
Chelsea claimed a 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, with Joao Pedro scoring the lone goal—his first since August.
Enzo Maresca’s side, rebounding from last weekend’s home loss to Sunderland, dominated chances and could have won more convincingly in a fixture they have long controlled.
Moises Caicedo dispossessed Micky van de Ven near the box and teed up the Brazilian, who finished calmly from eight metres in the 34th minute.
Pedro had further opportunities but was denied thrice by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who also stopped Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho.
Spurs keeper faced little pressure, with Robert Sanchez making just one save.
Maresca shrugged off questions about the slim margin. “I’m happy with 1-0 and three points, especially the clean sheet.”
“We’ll score goals eventually, but we must improve defensively for the future.”
Chelsea, winners of six in their last seven across all competitions, rose to fourth on 17 points after 10 games—one below Spurs on goal difference.
Tottenham have beaten Chelsea just once in their past 14 league meetings, prompting away fans to chant “Tottenham Hotspur, it’s happened again” late on.
Arsenal Extend Lead
Arsenal eased to a 2-0 victory over Burnley on November 1, stretching their Premier League lead to seven points.
Mikel Arteta’s team has won five league matches running, strengthening their bid to end a 20-year title drought.
Viktor Gyokeres nodded in Declan Rice’s corner for his first league goal since mid-September, delighting the set-piece experts.
Rice then headed the second in the 35th minute to seal control at Turf Moor.
The Gunners, on a nine-game winning streak overall, boast attacking depth backed by a defence that has allowed only three league goals in 10 matches.
Elsewhere, champions Liverpool face Aston Villa in Saturday’s late kick-off, aiming to halt a four-game losing run that has stalled their defence.
Arne Slot’s side led Unai Emery’s Villa by 12 points in late September but now share 15 points in mid-table.
Bournemouth, who began November in second place, visit Manchester City on November 2.
