Stunning details have emerged in the case of the sudden death of Taiwanese female influencer Iris Hsieh in Malaysia.
According to China Press report, police revealed that controversial rapper Namewee was present at the scene and was subsequently found by police with suspected drugs on his person, leading to him being charged in court.
However, Namewee pleaded not guilty to the charges of drug possession and drug abuse and was subsequently released on bail.
Dang Wangi OCPD ACP Sazalee bin Hj. Adam (Ketua Polis Daerah Dang Wangi) stated this morning that police received a distress call via a hotline around 1:40 PM on the 22nd of last month, reporting that a 31-year-old Taiwanese woman was found unconscious in a luxury hotel room in Kuala Lumpur.
“Namewee (42) was also in the hotel room at the time, and police recovered 9 blue pills suspected to be drugs from his person, arresting him on the spot,” he said.
He told China Press that Namewee was charged in court on the 24th of last month under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (Drug Possession) and Section 15(1)(a) (Drug Abuse).
“Namewee pleaded not guilty to the charges, after which he posted bail and was released,” he added.
Separately, ACP Sazalee said that police investigation found that Namewee has 5 prior records.
Taiwanese influencer “Nursing Goddess” Iris Hsieh, 31, reportedly died suddenly while working in Malaysia.
Hsieh’s friend and manager Chris previously stated that the Malaysian hospital report indicated the cause of death was a heart attack, but the family found the explanation difficult to accept, given Hsieh was usually healthy.
Taiwanese media reported that Hsieh had previously worked as a nurse and gained hundreds of thousands of followers on social media due to her attractive appearance and friendly image. She frequently shared skincare and fitness tips and produced popular short, humorous videos.
