PKR’s Rafizi Ramli has publicly refuted claims linking the recent attack on his son to former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
In a post on X, the Pandan MP addressed speculation that the assault was connected to a whistleblower’s information about an alleged money laundering case involving Ismail Sabri and projects associated with Khairy.
“Both of these allegations are false,” Rafizi stated.
“It has nothing to do with Ismail Sabri or Khairy or any other politician.” He condemned the claims as a “malicious attempt to divert attention” from the actual case.
The incident occurred last week when Rafizi’s 12-year-old son was attacked at a shopping mall in Putrajaya. According to Rafizi, CCTV footage shows two men on a motorcycle, dressed in black with helmets covering their faces, following his wife’s car. The assailants dragged his son and stabbed him with a syringe before fleeing the scene. The boy was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment and a full medical examination.
The former economy minister believes the attack was a premeditated act, suggesting his wife had been under surveillance for several days. He suspects the assault was intended as a warning to silence him on certain issues he is investigating.
A day after the attack, Rafizi had initially stated his suspicion that the assault was tied to a case he was pursuing, citing a recent meeting with a group of whistleblowers.
He also revealed that his wife had received a threatening text message from an unknown number that read: “Be quiet. If you continue, AIDS.”
