Two senior PKR leaders, Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, were absent from a closed-door meeting between Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Pakatan Harapan MPs held on July 15 at Seri Perdana, Putrajaya.
According to Malaysiakini, Rafizi said he already knew what the prime minister would be explaining during the meeting, which concerned issues that have recently gained national attention.
“I was already privy to the explanation in the past few months, so I would imagine the prime minister would explain the same thing,” he said.
“Back then, it wasn’t a national issue and the explanation was limited to a few of us. That’s why I think the PM chose a closed-door meeting instead of making a public statement, because of the sensitive information involved.”
Nik Nazmi, meanwhile, said he could not attend as he was in Singapore for a long-planned official trip.
Both Rafizi and Nik Nazmi resigned from their Cabinet positions after losing their respective bids for PKR’s deputy presidency and vice presidency.
Pakatan Harapan MPs began arriving at Seri Perdana at around 3:45pm. Anwar was expected to address several key national matters.
The meeting followed another session on Friday night where Anwar met Barisan Nasional MPs to clarify issues such as taxation, RON95 fuel subsidies, and judicial matters.
