PKR vice-president Amirudin Shari has announced the appointment of Tengku Zafrul Aziz as the monitoring officer for the Pandan and Ampang parliamentary constituencies.
Amirudin said the appointment reflected Prime Minister and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s personal attention towards Pandan.
Appointment reflects Anwar’s focus on Pandan
Speaking at a PKR event in Pandan on Saturday night, Amirudin said the party planned to revamp the parliamentary service centre in the constituency, including its operations and personnel.
“We want to overhaul the parliamentary service centre in Pandan, including its operations and personnel,” he said.
He added that Tengku Zafrul, who serves as Anwar’s senior political adviser, would represent the PKR president in the area.
According to Amirudin, the appointment was made at Anwar’s personal request after Tengku Zafrul expressed interest in taking on a more active role in Selangor politics.
PKR monitoring local divisions after resignations
The move comes following the resignations of Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad from PKR and their respective parliamentary seats in Pandan and Setiawangsa.
Both leaders are set to take over Parti Bersama Malaysia as part of a new political direction involving themselves and their supporters.
Amirudin said the Selangor PKR leadership would continue monitoring the party branches in Pandan and Ampang over the next one to three months.
“If all goes well, we will proceed with the existing management structure. We want to ensure all parties are committed,” he said.
Leadership urges members to remain united
Amirudin also said party members who were dissatisfied with the newly announced arrangement would be given space to voice their concerns.
However, he stressed that members should allow the leadership to manage the situation moving forward.
