Warisan president Shafie Apdal has thanked Sabah voters after his party emerged with the second-highest number of seats in yesterday’s state election.
The party secured 25 seats and attracted more than 300,000 votes across urban and rural areas from all ethnic communities.
Shafie described the result as the biggest political gain he has witnessed in his 36-year career.
Historic Swing from Chinese Voters
He singled out Chinese voters for special gratitude, noting a major shift that allowed Warisan to capture several urban constituencies.
All Chinese-majority seats swung to Warisan, including former DAP and PKR strongholds.
The party swept Luyang, Likas, Sri Tanjong, Tanjong Papat, Elopura, and Kapayan, effectively removing DAP from the state assembly.
Clean Government Pledge
Shafie, who comfortably retained his Senallang seat, promised Warisan will continue pushing for clean governance and corruption-free leadership.
Party vice-president Junz Wong retained Tanjung Aru with a 3,588-vote majority without Pakatan Harapan support.
Warisan also seized the PKR-held seats of Api-Api and Inanam.
