Suspended Bersatu vice-president Ronald Kiandee has questioned the decision by party president Muhyiddin Yassin and five other MPs to sign a confidence and supply agreement (CSA) with the government, despite the party previously sacking six former MPs for supporting Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
The Beluran MP asked whether Bersatu would take the same disciplinary action against the six MPs involved in the agreement as it had against those who previously declared their support for Anwar.
The six Bersatu MPs who signed the CSA yesterday were Muhyiddin (Pagoh), Radzi Jidin (Putrajaya), Ali Biju (Saratok), Suhaimi Abdullah (Langkawi), Nazri Abu Hassan (Merbok) and Azman Nasrudin (Padang Serai).
The agreement was also signed by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and six former Bersatu MPs who were sacked by the party in 2024 for declaring support for the government.
Kiandee questions disciplinary consistency
In a Facebook post today, Kiandee recalled how the six former Bersatu MPs had been labelled traitors and had their party memberships terminated for supporting Anwar.
‘If the same principles are applied, the memberships of these six MPs (who signed the CSA), including the president himself, should also be automatically terminated. Only then would the party be consistent.
‘Otherwise, the memberships of the previous six MPs should be reinstated,’ he said.
Kiandee sarcastically congratulated the party on what he described as its increasingly inconsistent stance.
He also expressed hope that the MPs would be able to use their government allocations before the end of the year.
Questions timing of CSA agreement
Kiandee also questioned whether the timing of the agreement was linked to preparations for the Melaka state election and the next general election.
‘If so, how does this fit with the principles and struggles the party has long defended?’ he said.
