Arsenal regained a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over 10-man Chelsea on Sunday.
Defenders William Saliba and Jurrien Timber scored the goals for the Gunners, who capitalised on Chelsea’s disciplinary issues and set-piece vulnerability.
Arsenal’s Corner Dominance Seals Victory
Saliba opened the scoring in the 21st minute, forcing the ball home after Gabriel Magalhaes headed Eberechi Eze’s corner delivery back across goal.
Chelsea responded from their own corner when Pedro Hincapie turned Reece James’ cross into his own net to level the score.
Timber restored Arsenal’s lead shortly after the hour mark, heading into an empty net after goalkeeper Robert Sanchez misjudged Declan Rice’s delivery.
The goal marked Arsenal’s 16th from corners this season in the Premier League, equalling the competition record.
Pedro Neto received a red card 20 minutes from time for two quick bookings, becoming the ninth Chelsea player sent off this season.
A late Chelsea equaliser was disallowed for offside, leaving the Blues three points outside the top five.
Second-placed Manchester City hold a game in hand and will face Arsenal at home next month.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his team’s attitude after tough recent fixtures, including a north London derby win over Tottenham.
“We are really happy because we know we had two difficult games in the last week or so. The attitude and willingness to go for it and be dominant, I am happy with it,” Arteta said.
United Climb to Third with Sesko Strike
Manchester United moved up to third after Benjamin Sesko’s goal helped secure a 2-1 comeback win against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
Sesko, making his first start in seven games under new manager Michael Carrick, delivered another crucial strike.
Palace took an early lead when Maxence Lacroix headed in from Brennan Johnson’s corner, outmuscling Leny Yoro.
The game turned just before the hour when Lacroix was sent off and conceded a penalty for pulling back Matheus Cunha.
Bruno Fernandes converted the spot-kick past former teammate Dean Henderson.
Fernandes then provided a curling cross for Sesko to power home his seventh goal in his last eight appearances.
“It feels like a big result,” Fernandes said. “We were behind and had to show some character.”
United remain unbeaten under Carrick, collecting 19 points from a possible 21.
Tottenham’s Slide Continues at Fulham
Tottenham remain in serious relegation danger, sitting just four points above the drop zone after a 2-1 defeat at Fulham.
Interim manager Igor Tudor suffered his second straight loss in charge.
Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi gave Fulham a deserved half-time lead, lifting them to ninth and back into European contention.
Richarlison headed in a late consolation for Spurs, who are the only Premier League side yet to win in 2026.
“We were not good, (we) lacked everything attacking and defending,” Tudor said.
“There are problems here, big problems. We need to stay calm, believe in what we are doing in training, and get out (of trouble), staying all together.”
A small relief came from Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 defeat at Brighton, leaving Forest two points above the relegation zone ahead of their trip to Manchester City on Wednesday.
