Chelsea have announced that head coach Enzo Maresca has left the club after 18 months in charge.
The Premier League side issued a statement saying the club and the Italian coach have parted company.
Maresca’s departure comes as Chelsea sit fifth in the league table, 15 points behind leaders Arsenal.
Recent Poor Form
The team has managed only one win in their last seven Premier League matches.
Speculation over his position grew amid a run of poor results and reports of strained relations with the club’s leadership.
The statement noted that with important goals still ahead in four competitions, including Champions League qualification, both parties believe a change offers the best opportunity to turn the season around.
Maresca was absent from the post-match press conference after Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, officially due to illness.
He had previously described the days before a 2-0 win over Everton as the worst 48 hours of his tenure.
Achievements and Contract
Under Maresca, Chelsea won the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup in 2025.
He also guided the team back into the Champions League.
His contract was set to run until the summer of 2029, with an option for an additional year.
