PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has urged an emergency meeting of the Perikatan Nasional Supreme Council.
The goal is to confirm Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation as PN chairman and appoint his successor, in line with Clause 8.3(i)(b) of the coalition’s constitution.
Resignation Letter and Timeline
In a statement yesterday, Hadi confirmed receiving Muhyiddin’s resignation letter dated Dec 30, 2025.
The resignation took effect from Jan 1.
He noted that more than 10 days have passed since then. “It is hoped this matter receives attention and prompt action for PN’s smooth administration,” Hadi said.
As PN deputy chairman, he called for the immediate meeting to ensure continuity.
Gratitude for Past Leadership
Hadi expressed deep appreciation to Muhyiddin, Bersatu president, for his contributions since PN’s formation five years ago.
PAS leaders have pushed for their party to take the PN helm following Muhyiddin’s announcement amid coalition tensions.

On Friday, Hadi denied reports that PAS had put forward candidates for the chairman role.
Malaysiakini quoted him entrusting the decision fully to the party’s central leadership for review.
