MCA deputy president Mah Hang Soon has urged party members not to view DAP’s total loss in the Sabah state election as a victory for MCA. He described DAP’s poor showing as simply a heavier setback than what MCA faced. Celebrating a rival’s misfortune, he warned, would be immature and counterproductive.
Time for Honest Self-Reflection
Mah stressed that MCA must develop a fresh winning strategy and a realistic roadmap before the next general election. Assuming any blow to traditional opponents automatically helps MCA is dangerous thinking, he said at the MCA Youth general assembly today. The party needs to prepare itself for new political forces and stronger challenges ahead.
Youth Wing Wants Bold Action
MCA Youth chief Ling Tian Soon suggested the party should consider leaving the unity government if it remains marginalised by Putrajaya.
He also called for exiting if promises made to the Chinese community are not honoured. Fair treatment for all races remains essential, Ling emphasised in a separate remark.
