Lando Norris couldn’t stop smiling after turning a childhood dream into reality by winning Sunday’s rain-soaked and action-packed British Grand Prix for McLaren.
Starting from third on the grid, behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and teammate Oscar Piastri, Norris navigated through changing conditions — from heavy rain to bursts of sunshine — to emerge victorious.
His path to the top was helped by Verstappen’s mid-race spin during a Safety Car period and a 10-second penalty handed to Piastri after the restart. Still, Norris drove flawlessly and soaked up the cheers from the home crowd as he neared the finish line.
“In those last few laps, I was just looking at the crowd,” Norris said. “I wanted to take it all in and enjoy every second, because who knows if it’ll ever happen again. I hope it does, but these are the kinds of memories that will stay with me forever. It’s just incredible.”
With unpredictable weather, slippery track conditions, and several incidents around him, Norris admitted: “As far as stressful races go, this was as intense as they come.”
“Oscar also had a great race — full credit to him. He was fast from start to finish, so big applause for Oscar.
“He put up a good fight, and I always enjoy those moments when we’re battling on track. Although I prefer it when he’s behind me, not ahead — but hey, that’s racing. Props to him, and of course, to the whole McLaren team.”

With this win, Norris has closed the gap in the championship standings, trimming Piastri’s lead from 15 points to just eight — just in time for the short summer break before the drivers return to action at the Belgian Grand Prix, July 25–27.
