Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli has offered three key reminders to his successor Akmal Nasir as he assumes the portfolio.
He stressed that ministerial positions are temporary and urged Akmal to perform with full dedication and diligence.
Focus on Sincere Work
Rafizi advised Akmal to disregard both excessive praise from supporters and harsh criticism from detractors.
He emphasised that only sincere and good work brings true rewards, while carelessness could lead to pitfalls.
Rafizi endorsed the Johor Bahru MP for the role, describing him as persistent, shrewd, and hardworking based on their collaboration since 2009.
He highlighted Akmal’s qualities as a PKR leader during the handover.
Congratulations to Ally
Rafizi congratulated Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh on his appointment as deputy natural resources and environmental sustainability minister.
Both Akmal and Syed Ibrahim had supported Rafizi during the PKR elections in May.
In those elections, Rafizi lost the deputy presidency to Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Akmal lost the Johor Bahru PKR chief post but both he and Syed Ibrahim were elected to the party’s central leadership council.

Rafizi said he would comment further on Syed Ibrahim’s appointment during his “Yang Berhenti Menteri” podcast at 9pm tomorrow.
He chose not to elaborate immediately on the matter.
Analysts view the appointments of Akmal and Syed Ibrahim as Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s effort to maintain factional balance within PKR.
They note Anwar’s deliberate approach to avoid sidelining Rafizi’s allies following his resignation as economy minister after the party election defeat.
