The Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced today that Budget 2026 will be tabled in Parliament on October 10.
In its pre-budget statement, the ministry said it would coordinate extensive public and stakeholder engagements to gather input that aligns with the priorities of the Madani Economy framework. The government is committed to incorporating this feedback into Budget 2026, especially proposals that directly contribute to economic progress, public well-being, and improved governance.
Budget 2026 is the fourth in a series of Madani-themed budgets aimed at achieving the vision of the Madani Economy, which seeks to restore fiscal resilience, strengthen the country’s economic foundations, and improve the livelihoods of its people.
The budget will continue to be guided by three key pillars:
- Raising the ceiling of national growth.
- Raising the floor of living standards.
- Driving reform, particularly in governance.
This budget will also be the first to fall under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) for the 2026–2030 period.
The ministry stated that amid a global environment of “uncertainty and intensifying competition,” Budget 2026 will maintain its focus on Malaysia’s long-term economic reform agenda. It will also address short-term challenges to sustain growth and safeguard economic resilience. Efforts will be intensified to enhance the well-being of the public through more targeted, outcome-driven assistance.
Reaffirming its commitment to a bottom-up, people-centred approach, the government will actively seek views from the public, businesses, and key stakeholders to ensure national policies reflect on-the-ground realities.
