Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, has confirmed that his application to join Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) was accepted two weeks ago.
Speaking to Malaysian media during a visit to the Malaysia Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Tengku Zafrul stated that he is now a member of the PKR Ampang branch.
“I don’t recall the exact date (of the application’s acceptance), but it was during the party’s Central Leadership Council meeting two weeks ago,” he said today.
On May 30, Tengku Zafrul announced his resignation from UMNO and his intention to join PKR. In a letter to the UMNO leadership, he informed them of his decision to step down from his positions as a member of the Supreme Council, the Kota Raja UMNO division chief, and as an UMNO member.
