A wave of near-simultaneous bomb blasts and arson attacks struck at least 12 locations across Thailand’s southern provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat last night.
According to Thai local media, the coordinated attacks began at around 8.15pm, targeting public infrastructure and commercial premises through the use of explosive devices, burning tyres and vehicle fires.
Narathiwat was reported to be the worst affected, followed by Yala and Pattani.
Security forces tighten measures
In response to the incidents, Thai security forces stepped up security measures and cordoned off affected areas to facilitate security sweeps and investigations.
In Narathiwat, authorities ordered the temporary closure of designated areas, including Sungai Kolok and Tak Bai, with strict restrictions imposed on entry and exit.
Local authorities in Narathiwat also announced a curfew until 6am today following the attacks.
