Nineteen members of Wanita Bersatu’s executive committee have publicly declared they no longer have confidence in their chief, Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
The group announced their stand following her resignation as Masjid Tanah division chief last Friday.
Loss of Confidence Cited
In a joint statement, the leaders criticised statements and actions by the Masjid Tanah MP that they said went against Bersatu’s constitution and the principles of organisational discipline.
They stressed that any decisions, statements, or positions taken by Mas Ermieyati were made in her personal capacity only.
“Her statements and actions were not carried out through deliberation, nor did they have the mandate of the Wanita Bersatu organisational platform,” the statement said.
The signatories made clear that neither they nor the majority of state Wanita Bersatu chiefs supported her positions.
Among those who signed were the state Wanita Bersatu chiefs from Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Johor, Terengganu, Pahang, and Sarawak.
Loyalty to Party Leadership
The group reaffirmed their full loyalty to party president Muhyiddin Yassin.
They said Mas Ermieyati’s conduct had disrupted internal stability and posed a threat to unity across all levels of Wanita Bersatu.
Mas Ermieyati was among the Bersatu MPs who joined a solidarity rally organised by former deputy president Hamzah Zainudin in Kuala Lumpur on February 14.
Hamzah had been sacked from the party the day before, on February 13.
Her participation followed a pattern seen in recent days, with several other Bersatu division leaders stepping down from their posts to protest Hamzah’s expulsion and express dissatisfaction with Muhyiddin’s leadership.
